Scooter hopes ride on state legislation

Electric scooters, also referred to as e-scooters, are a burgeoning means of getting around in cities throughout the country, but Pennsylvania law currently does not allow them on roads and sidewalks. A proposed bill seeks to add them to the state vehicle code and treat them as bicycles, paving the way for their use.

Still cooking: Distillery pioneers gear up for expansion

Three years after moving to North York, Old Republic Distillery is investing in a much larger still to boost its production volumes and expand its lineup of craft spirits. Old Republic was the first small-scale distillery to open in Central Pennsylvania after Pennsylvania created a limited distillery licensing category in 2012. Now there are nearly 20 distilleries in the midstate.
