Health insurer Highmark has created a new executive position to head up its operations in Central and northeastern Pennsylvania.
The new role – chief market officer and senior vice president of the central region – will be based in Camp Hill and filled by Daniel P. Day. He has been with Pittsburgh-based Highmark since 2017 and leads its commercial sales force in Central and northeastern Pennsylvania.
In his new role, Day will oversee the market and brand strategy for the 10-month-old partnership between Highmark Health and Penn State Health. The two organizations have pledged to invest more than $1 billion in a community-based health care network.
Penn State Health recently unveiled plans for a new hospital in Cumberland County, potentially heightening competition in the region’s fastest-growing area.
Day has more than 25 years of experience in the health care industry.
“I look forward to working with our region’s leaders and Penn State Health in this new capacity, as we continue to lead health care into a new vision of value-based, patient-focused care and increased opportunities for collaboration with local physicians and partners,” he said in a statement.
Highmark’s Central Pennsylvania region covers: Adams, Berks, Centre, Cumberland, Dauphin, York, Perry, Mifflin, Juniata, Lebanon, Fulton, Franklin, Lancaster, Lehigh, Northampton, Schuylkill, Montour, Columbia, Snyder, Union and Northumberland counties.
In northeastern Pennsylvania, the insurer covers Luzerne, Lackawanna, Pike, Wayne, Tioga, Bradford, Monroe, Carbon, Susquehanna, Wyoming, Sullivan, Lycoming and Clinton counties.
