Lower Paxton Township-based Higher Information Group has acquired a Cumberland County telecommunications company in a bid to bolster its IT services division.
Higher Information said Friday it has purchased Pennsylvania Telephone Products Co. in Lemoyne. Terms of the deal, which closed July 6, were not disclosed.
“This acquisition is a key part of our growth strategy as we continue to invest in integrating new technologies, products and services to create operative and proficient workflow solutions for our customers,” Higher Information President John Frisch said.
Higher Information has six divisions selling business equipment, IT services, recycled shredding, document storage, print and mailing services and marketing services. The addition of Pennsylvania Telephone brings a variety of business phone services, ranging from voice over IP systems to digital telephone and voicemail systems.
As part of the deal, Pennsylvania Telephone operations have been relocated to Higher Information’s corporate offices in Lower Paxton. All employees have been retained, pushing Higher Information to a staff of 116 people.
Last year, Higher Information acquired York Mailing Services, which it renamed Higher Mail Group. The company also has a sales office in Lancaster County and it recently opened a new office in Philadelphia to serve eastern Pennsylvania.
Higher Information was founded in 1969 as Harrisburg Copiers. Pennsylvania Telephone got its start in 1978.
