Lancaster County is home to one of the state’s first high-tech Subway sandwich shops.
The national sandwich chain opened a location Wednesday at the Tanger Outlets Center in East Lampeter Township. The store includes features like self-ordering kiosks, designated pre-order pick-up areas, Wi-Fi and USB charging ports, as well as fresh décor and new menu options.
Subway started rolling out the high-tech features at new stores, which it calls “Fresh Forward” restaurants, this past summer. The first new-format location in Pennsylvania opened in August in York County.
The Tanger Outlets store is owned by franchisee Tina Dott, who employs about 20 people between two franchise locations, according to a news release from Subway.
The Tanger Outlets store is open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Pre-ordering is available through the Subway smartphone app.
