Doctors from Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital are providing pediatric care at Lancaster General Hospital as the first step of a broader planned partnership, the two health care organizations said today.
Since January, eight hospital pediatricians have helped care for patients in Lancaster General Hospital’s pediatric inpatient unit and emergency room, according to a joint news release.
Under a formal agreement between Penn State Hershey and Lancaster General Health, the Lancaster hospital’s parent organization, Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital will manage and oversee the arrangement as of July 1.
“Collaborative discussions continue to assess what other pediatric specialty services may be developed in Lancaster County through an expanded partnership,” the two institutions said.
Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital is part of Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and Health System. Lancaster General Health is Lancaster County’s largest health system, with three hospitals and roughly 60 other facilities.
