The Hershey Co. has hired a new executive for its leadership team.
The Derry Township-based candy and snack company last week said Damien Atkins has been named senior vice president, general counsel and secretary, effective Aug. 13.
Leslie Turner retired from the role at the end of March and Hershey had been searching for her replacement.
Atkins will report to Hershey President and CEO Michele Buck and will lead the company’s legal, government relations and corporate secretary functions. He also will serve as a member of the company’s executive committee, a team of the company’s most senior leaders.
He brings 20 years of legal experience, having most recently served as general counsel and corporate secretary for Panasonic Corp. of North America. Before Panasonic, Atkins was senior vice president, deputy general counsel, corporate and chief compliance officer at AOL Inc.
Hershey has more than 80 brands and about $7.5 billion in annual revenue. Shares of the company’s stock are traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol HSY.
