Many children enjoyed the work of Maurice Sendak, the popular children’s book artist and author responsible for the imaginative drawings in the book Where the Wild Things Are. Sendak passed away from a stroke at age 83 on May 8. He has received a variety of awards and created a number of other popular children’s books including In the Night Kitchen, Chicken Soup with Rice, Alligators All Around, and the Little Bear books. More recently, a film adaptation of Where the Wild Things Are was released to DVD at the beginning of March.
