Cumberland County-based Harsco Corp. today announced its
acquisition of ESCO Interamerica Ltd., an infrastructure services and equipment
company based in Costa Rica.

Terms of the deal are not being released, Harsco spokesman
Ken Julian said.

ESCO had 2008 sales of more than $50 million, he said. ESCO
employs more than 450 people. ESCO offers similar services to Harsco
Infrastructure, a subsidiary providing concrete-forming equipment, scaffolding
and services to commercial and infrastructure construction firms worldwide.
ESCO will become part of that subsidiary.

The deal is expected to dramatically expand Harsco’s
offerings in South and Central America, and the Caribbean,
Julian said.

Harsco has a presence in Chile,
Mexico and Peru. ESCO will add Columbia, Costa Rico, El
Salvador, Guatemala,
Panama, Puerto Rico, Trinidad and
Tobago to that presence, giving Harsco a
foothold in more than 40 countries.

Harsco, with headquarters in Wormleysburg, provides services
and products to the nonresidential construction, energy, metals production,
mining and railway industries.

Its shares are traded on the New York Stock Exchange under
the ticker symbol HSC.
