Operating income for the year ended June 30, 2012, was $4.5 million, down from nearly $8 million in 2011, according to the report. Charity care at cost grew about $175,000, to just more than $1 million, and uncompensated care grew nearly $850,000, to $5.3 million.
Outpatient and emergency department visits were both up over last year at 213,769 and 30,579 respectively, compared to 198,825 and 30,403. Discharges and surgical operations both declined, at 5,804 and 4,299 respectively compared to 6,070 and 4,638 in 2011.
The nonprofit hospital in York County also saw a drop in spending on community building and other benefit activities, at $6,773 and $174,799 respectively compared to $127,000 and $420,000 in 2011.
