The York County Convention and Visitors Bureau selected Laura Gurreri as its acting president while a search committee finds a replacement for outgoing president Anne Druck.
Gurreri, who has served as sales director for the organization for the last 12 years, will assume the role on June 2, a day after Druck leaves for a new job.
“I was born in York County. I feel a great sense of loyalty to this community and to this organization to make it the very best it can be, and I’d like to build upon the growth path that is Anne Druck’s legacy,” Gurreri said in a statement. “I feel very confident in our tourism team’s ability to do that, and more.”
During her time with the tourism bureau, Gurreri has helped create the Sport York brand, which has attracted a number of sports events and tournaments to the county. The brand has also aided in the organization’s growth, said Mark Sindicich, chairman of the tourism bureau’s board, who praised Gurreri.
“She has played a central role in York County’s rising profile as a go-to destination for sports, business and leisure travel. She has the experience and expertise necessary to keep our momentum going,” he said.
The United Way of York County announced last month that Druck would become its CEO and executive director on July 9. Druck is replacing Robert Woods, who is retiring this year. Her last day at the convention and visitors bureau is June 1.
Though the search committee is working to ensure a smooth transition, Druck said it has not yet established a deadline for finding a permanent leader.
