The massive logistics center developed by Goodman Group off Allen Road in Cumberland County will soon be more than half full.
On Thursday, Goodman, one of the world’s largest industrial property groups, announced that it has pre-leased one of the two facilities that make up the 2 million-square-foot Goodman Logistics Center Carlisle.
Goodman has inked a seven-year lease for more than 1 million square feet with Syncreon, a Michigan-based contract logistics firm that specializes in supply chain services for automotive and technology companies.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Officials at Syncreon, which recently leased a distribution center in Dauphin County, said the Carlisle-area facility will be a “critical part” of the company’s growth plan in North America.
“This facility will be a world-class operation for us and for our technology customers,” said Michael Fahy, the company’s head of global accounts for technology.
The logistics center development, which has been in the works for several years, covers parts of Dickinson Township, the Borough of Carlisle and South Middleton Township. A groundbreaking ceremony was held in September 2015.
The Goodman complex is the latest industrial development to spring up in the Carlisle area off Interstate 81, one of the major highways that serves the Northeast. The location offers access to more than 40 percent of the U.S. population, making it highly sought after by companies that serve major cities along the East Coast.
Syncreon plans to occupy the building in early 2018, according to Goodman. Lauren Scarpace and Michael Hess from CBRE negotiated the lease.
The second logistics facility on the site, which is 938,236 square feet, remains available. Goodman has hired Mark Chubb and Michael Zerbe from Colliers as brokers.
