Giving & Awards

Lebanon-based APR Supply Co. has been named 2021 Heil Heating & Cooling Products Multi-Branch Distributor of the Year. The award was accepted at the Heil principals and sales managers meeting in Chicago on Nov. 2. 

Camp Hill-based United Concordia Dental is donating $100,000 to 11 food banks in seven states to help Americans struggling with food insecurity. 

Family-owned, Lebanon-based Royer’s Flowers & Gifts has donated $11,400 to six organizations in support of women’s causes. Royer’s earmarks $10 from every sale of its Admiration arrangement for these donations. 

This year’s recipients: Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition, $2,500; YWCA York, $2,500; Water Street Mission, Lancaster, $2,500; Women in Need Inc., Chambersburg, $1,500; Girls Who Code Central PA, $1,350; and Girls Who Code Berks County, $1,050. 

The American Water Charitable Foundation recently announced three organizations were awarded a 2022 Workforce Readiness Grant, supporting communities served by Mechanicsburg-based Pennsylvania American Water, including Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Capital Region, which received $22,500. 

On Nov. 17, Carlisle-based Giant Co. donated 1,500 turkeys from Shady Brook Farms to the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank. Giant team members also packed hunger relief boxes and organized and restocked shelves in advance of the busy holiday season. 

Associations 

The Lancaster Chamber announced that the recipient of the 2022 George C. Delp Award is Karen Martynick, who recently retired from Lancaster Farmland Trust after 17 years. The award is presented annually to a resident or business of Lancaster County who has made a significant contribution to the agricultural community. 

Banking/Finance 

Amey Sgrignoli, president and CEO of Harrisburg-based Belco Community Credit Union, was selected by American Banker as one of its 2022 Most Powerful Women in Credit Unions. 

Harrisburg-based Centric Bank, the wholly owned subsidiary of Centric Financial Corp., has been distinguished as a 2022 Best Banks to Work For award recipient by American Banker for the fifth consecutive year. 

Health Care 

Harrisburg-based PA Health & Wellness has received a full three-year Health Plan Accreditation from the National Committee for Quality Assurance for Medicaid and full Long-Term Services and Supports Distinction. 

Law 

The George Mason University Alumni Association recently named Barley Snyder partner David J. Freedman its 2022 “Alumnus of the Year” for his extensive pro bono work and numerous accolades. Freedman, an immediate past president of the Lancaster Bar Association’s board of directors, was honored at the university’s annual Celebration of Distinction in October. 

Other 

Harrisburg-based Keystone 10 Million Trees Partnership awarded its 2022 Mira Lloyd Dock Partnership Diversity Awards to Dr. Zeshan Ismat, a geology professor at Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, and Brennan Ka’aihue, project coordinator for Central Pennsylvania Conservancy.
