Cumberland County-based Giant Food Stores‘ net sales
increased 9.2 percent, to $1.4 billion, in the first quarter of 2008, according
to Royal Ahold. Ahold, based in the Netherlands, is the parent company
of Middlesex Township-based Giant.
Giant’s same-store sales, or sales at stores open for at
least a year, increased 5.7 percent in the first quarter when compared to the
prior-year period.
