Giant Food Stores launched a new app on Thursday for customers of the Middlesex Township, Cumberland County-based grocer’s pharmacies.
The app will allow customers of Giant’s pharmacies to refill their prescriptions or transfer them to other pharmacies through their phones.
“We understand the changing needs of our customers to shop for their groceries whenever and however they want; it’s the same when it comes to managing their prescriptions,” said Leigh Shirley, Giant’s director of pharmacy operations, in a press release from the company.
Shirley said that the app is a natural extension of the pharmacy’s offerings. The Giant Pharmacy app includes a health library with medical resources used by pharmacists.
Giant currently operates more than 180 grocery stores and 132 pharmacies. On Monday, Giant Food Stores announced that it plans to purchase Musser’s Market, a Lancaster-County grocery store chain and reopen the three stores under the Giant brand by the end of October.
Martin’s Food Markets’ pharmacy has announced a similar app for its customers with the same features. Both the Martin’s and Giant brands operate under Giant Food Stores LLC.
The Martin’s and Giant Pharmacy apps are available from the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store.
