Carlisle-based The Giant Company plans to increase its workforce by 3,000 people in the coming weeks.

Shortly after increasing its staff by 4,000 temporary members in the last month, Giant announced it will once again increase its workforce as it faces rising demand at its 130 Giant and Martin’s grocery stores.

“We’re committed to serving our communities and customers during this extraordinary time while helping our neighbors who are looking for work,” said Matthew Lutcavage, vice president of human resources at Giant.

Giant has also seen an increase in its online grocery service, Giant Direct, which allows customers to order products online and have them delivered to their home or to their car at a store’s parking lot.

The company is hiring for multiple positions within its stores, drivers to support Giant Direct and fulfillment center selectors.

The grocery store chain said it will be enhancing Giant Direct with added order capacity and more time slots for clients.

“Over the past two months, our incredible in-store and e-commerce team member have worked tirelessly to serve families, but the demand for online grocery keeps growing stronger,” said Lutcavage.

Giant will also be updating its company website and app this week, which the company said will include a search and filter capability that connects to the Guiding Stars nutrition guidance program.
