Renovation and expansion of the Giant Food Stores supermarket in Carlisle will be completed next
week, officials said.
The makeover, which began in May, added 10,000 square feet
to the store at 225 S. Spring
Garden St., making it 73,100 square feet, company
spokeswoman Tracy Pawelski said. New amenities include a large section devoted
to natural and organic products, featuring the company’s “Nature’s Promise”
line; a full-service coffee shop with Wi-Fi access; and two additional
self-checkout stations.
Other sections of the store were redesigned, updated and
expanded, and a second entrance was built. Pawelski declined to disclose the
cost of the project.
Giant’s “EasyShop” service, in which customers use a
hand-held scanner to tally their purchases as they shop, will be available at
the store beginning Dec. 4, Pawelski said.
Two full-time positions were added to staff the organic
section and the coffee shop, she said.
