Harrisburg-based Geneia is teaming up with SalesForce to broaden distribution of the company’s signature product for population health management.
Under a partnership between the two companies, customers using the Salesforce Health Cloud product will be able to access Geneia’s Theon platform, which uses data analytics to improve population health.
“We’re really excited about this announcement,” said Mark Caron, Geneia’s CEO. “For an organization our size, these are the partners that you really went to get connected to.”
Geneia is a subsidiary of Capital BlueCross, based in Susquehanna Township, Dauphin County. It has more than 250 employees and contractors.
Health insurers and providers use Health Cloud much like other organizations use Salesforce, as a form of customer relationship management, only tailored for patients.
Health Cloud also hosts applications and products from other companies that augment its basic service. Geneia’s Theon is now one of those applications, available through an additional licensing fee and offering the potential to strengthen coordination of patient care.
“We’re thrilled to work with Geneia to better serve the value-based care market,” Susan Collins, vice president and general manager for health care and life sciences at Salesforce, said in a statement. “With Geneia’s expertise in population health management and Salesforce’s track record in customer and patient relationship management, we are able to provide a solution that uniquely serves the needs of health care organizations moving into more patient-centric models of care.”
Population health management generally refers to efforts to oversee the health of a group of people overall.
The partnership with Salesforce also could help Geneia sign up customers, especially as providers streamline their use of outside vendors, said Heather Lavoie, Geneia’s chief strategy officer.
“Salesforce has an incredibly high customer retention rate and customer satisfaction rate,” Lavoie said. Customers likely will add Theon as they expand their use of the Salesforce Health Cloud.
