The magazine, which is owned by McGraw-Hill Cos., ranks the top firms in the country based on total revenue.
York Township-based Kinsley Construction Inc. was the top local firm, based on 2013 revenue. Kinsley came in at No. 142 with $436.6 million. That was up from No. 174 and $329.7 million in 2012 revenue, according to ENR.
Harrisburg-based Quandel Enterprises Inc. jumped up to No. 200 from No. 236 with $318.4 million in revenue last year. That was up from $250.4 million in 2012.
Harrisburg-based Alexander Building Construction Co.’s parent company, Butz Enterprises Inc., which is headquartered in Allentown, came in at No. 209 this year. Butz reported $301.6 million in revenue, up from $212.8 million and No. 270 on last year’s list.
Lancaster-based Wohlsen Construction Co. dropped to No. 317 from No. 290 last year. Its revenue was $182 million in 2013 compared to $195.6 million in 2012, according to ENR.
Collectively, the top 400 generated $324.2 billion in contracting revenue last year, according to ENR. That was up 4.8 percent from 2012. The record revenue year was 2008 with $338.4 billion, the publication said.
Domestic contracting revenue rose 6.6 percent in 2013 to $249.3 billion, while international revenue fell 0.8 percent to $74.8 billion. Petroleum was up 21.1 percent, while general building grew 10.8 percent, according to ENR.
Bechtel, based in San Francisco, remains the No. 1 contractor on the list. It finished last year with $30.7 billion in revenue. Bechtel has topped the list for 16 straight years.
