A former Millersville University president has landed a new gig in construction.

New York-based LeChase Construction Services LLC said Thursday that it has hired John Anderson to be its higher education market leader. Anderson retired from Millersville in July.

In his new role, Anderson will lead a team and offer insight on emerging trends in higher education construction. He spent 34 years as a professor and senior administrator at various public and private colleges and universities, largely in New York state.

Before coming to Millersville, he was president of Alfred State, the State University of New York College of Technology.

During his career, Anderson was part of capital projects that exceeded $275 million. One recent project is the Lombardo Welcome Center, a net-zero energy building that opened on the Millersville campus in February. Net-zero means the building produces at least as much energy as it consumes.

For LeChase, education construction represents about 20 percent to 25 percent of annual revenue. The company was 30th nationally on the 2018 Building Design Construction list of top university contractors and construction management firms.
