Former television anchor Flora Posteraro is back in front of the camera.
The longtime anchor for WHTM-TV, or abc27, who was fired by the station in March, has joined forces with Nell McCormack Abom, owner of public relations firm Nell McCormack Abom Communications, to launch a new weekly podcast series.
Dubbed PA PoliChicks, the podcast debuted Monday on the nonpartisan online news site PennWatch.org
Posteraro is a senior multimedia specialist for PennWatch.org, where she does media training and produces videos for clients. McCormack Abom, meanwhile, spent more than 20 years covering news at television stations around the country. She served as a senior communications adviser to governors Bob Casey Sr. and Tom Ridge and earned an Emmy hosting Smart Talk on WITF.
The new podcast series will feature conversations with state and national newsmakers as well as insights on the media and public relations.
“It’s pretty clear that news consumers embrace the intimacy and storytelling that are hallmarks of the very best podcasts,” said McCormack Abom. “We want our new series to become a regular place where Pennsylvanians meet the ‘real people’ behind the headlines in a format that’s engaging, lively, and personal.”
Posteraro added: “We like to say that no topic is off limits and we really want the podcast to be real. It features genuine conversations about the issues everyone’s interested in without a lot of fences and filters. While politics is in our blood and will be a mainstay of the podcast, we’ll explore all kinds of topics — the people, places and personalities that make this time in our history so fascinating.”
In addition to PennWatch, the podcast will be available on iTunes, Podbean, Spotify, Google Play and Stitcher, as well as YouTube.
Posteraro worked for abc27 for 20 years, but filed a complaint this year with the Pennsylvania Human Rights Commission alleging discrimination by her former employer and the station’s general manager, Robert Bee. In the wake of the allegations, multiple advertisers suspended their advertising with the station.
