The Fireball Run, an adventure race, is making the Lebanon Valley one of seven Mid-Atlantic destinations where it will hold competitions this fall.
In the race, teams stop at a destination and are tasked with completing scavenger hunts and other activities based on the region’s heritage.
The race is later turned into a reality Web series posted on FireballRun.com. The Lebanon Valley is one of two Pennsylvania destinations in this year’s race, which will visit five states overall.
The Orlando, Fla.-based company that operates the race approached the county about making the area one of its stops this year, said Laura Putt, executive director of the Lebanon Valley Destination Marketing Organization. After a week-long tour of Lebanon County in January, the company’s decision makers were convinced, she said.
“They visited more than 40 places in the county,” Putt said. “They focus on undiscovered areas and they’re interested in historical areas. They said we were a great destination for their event.”
