Women’s Leadership Webinar

Women are taking their place in the workplace in increasing numbers, as business owners, CEOs, even as Vice President. This webinar will focus on what women bring to these leadership roles in our communities.

Eugenia Powell, Vice President of Patient Safety and Quality, WellSpan Health

Eugenia serves as WellSpan Health’s vice president of patient safety and quality. She leads all patient safety and quality teams across the system and works closely with WellSpan York Hospital leadership to develop the system’s shared vision and achieve top decile results in quality and safety.

As a partner to clinicians and leaders, Eugenia promotes WellSpan’s culture of quality and safety to improve overall patient safety, eliminate preventable harm, expand health equity and drive system-level outcomes for publicly reported measures and performance-based programs.

Prior to WellSpan, Eugenia served as Lead Operational Executive, Vice President and Chief Quality Officer for Providence Hospital in Washington, D.C. In these positions she strongly influenced a collaborative work style for leaders and staff, yielding very positive quality and regulatory outcomes. She was also appointed to lead the closure of acute care services at Providence Hospital.

In addition to Eugenia’s strategic and operations background, she has also been integral to the professional development of nurses and technicians through her roles as Director of Education and Research. Eugenia successfully created a nursing research program while at Saint Agnes Hospital, teaching nurses how to engage in evidence-based practice, quality improvement and research activities.

She earned master’s and bachelor’s degrees from Howard University and received a Doctorate in Philosophy and Master of Science in Nursing from The Catholic University of America.


Alison L. Bernhardt, CPA, is Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for the UPMC Central Pa. Region. 

In this role she is the Senior executive responsible for managing the financial actions of Central Pa.  The CFO’s duties include financial forecasting and budgeting as well as analyzing the organization’s financial strengths and weaknesses and proposing corrective actions.  She also is actively involved in developing the strategic direction of the region.   

 Alison has extensive experience in health care finances. Prior to her current role as CFO, she served as Vice President of Accounting and Reporting at UPMC Pinnacle, overseeing financial reporting, payroll, tax, treasury, accounts payables, and asset management. Alison came to UPMC Pinnacle from the global financial firm PricewaterhouseCoopers where she filled a number of leadership positions focusing on non for profit and health care industries. She was named one of the region’s Women of Influence by the Central PA Business Journal in 2017.  

 Alison earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting at Indiana University of Pennsylvania and is a member of the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA). She is also a member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) and the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE). She volunteers locally as the Chair of the Finance and Audit Committee for Girl Scouts in the Heart of Pennsylvania.  

 Alison lives in Mount Joy, Pennsylvania, with her husband, Michael, and their four children. In her free time, she can be found at area basketball courts, baseball diamonds, and soccer fields cheering on her children. 


Susan Yohn, Director of Human Resources (HR) with Brown Schultz Sheridan & Fritz (BSSF) 

Susan has worked in the HR industry for over 15 years. Susan directs all areas of the BSSF HR Department and is also the lead for the BSSF HR Consulting Practice, helping companies ranging from small/medium-sized to large companies with a range of HR services.

Additionally, Susan supports several internal BSSF programs and initiatives that strive for Firm growth and employee engagement, including the Strategic Planning Committee, Orientation and Training Committee, Fun Committee and Culture Committee. She also serves as Chair of the BSSF
Wellness Committee – The Fit Club.

Susan received her Bachelor of Science degree in Human Resources from Shippensburg University and holds the designation of Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), a certification recognizing those who have mastered the strategic and policy-making aspects of HR management in the United States. She also holds the designation of Society of Human Resource
Management Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP).
