Tom Stoessel, MBA, Executive Vice President, Chief Strategy & Transformation Officer

Tom has more than 25 years of leadership and executive management experience in the healthcare environment. He has extensive experience in organizational strategy, market development, physician network management, clinical program development, mergers and acquisitions, academic affiliations, as well as a background in marketing, branding and crisis communications.

Tom Stoessel serves Penn State Health as Executive Vice President, Chief of Strategy & Transformation. In this role, he is responsible for the growth of the emerging Penn State Health system, with a focus on development and execution of the organization’s comprehensive strategic plan, driving clinical program expansion and partnerships with regional community systems, physician practices, and industry partners and payers.

Prior to joining Penn State Health, Tom served PinnacleHealth as Senior Vice President, Strategic Planning and Business Development. During his time with Pinnacle, Tom was responsible for the development of the high level strategic direction for the organization, inclusive of its long range vision, incremental strategies and annual plans of execution. He held ultimate responsibility for year-over-year growth of all health system service and product lines, and the development of new ventures and businesses. Tom served in a leadership capacity for all merger and acquisition, and
affiliation activity, including hospital system expansion, as well as growth of the primary
and specialty care physician network.

 

Stephen Seftchick, Vice President, Provider Partnership Executive – Central PA,

Seftchick is responsible for creating the right capabilities to deliver on mutual value in partnership with providers. This role supports the lifecycle of Highmark’s provider partnership and alignment strategy from ideation to implementation with a heavy focus on developing the portfolio of partnership offerings.  Stephen and his team work across the organization to create a portfolio of capabilities and offerings to enable Highmark to better partner with providers.   

 Mr. Seftchick has been with Highmark since 2012. Prior to his current role, he served as the Director of Provider Partnerships and, previous to that, as the Director of Provider and Delivery System Analytics, during which he led the initial build of Highmark’s provider analytics capabilities.   

 Prior to joining Highmark, he had a tenure in management consulting with Accenture’s Health Strategy and Provider Transformation consulting practice, working with large provider and payer organizations.  Additionally, he has a clinical background with almost 10 years of experience as a Physical Therapist Assistant in a variety of health care settings.  

 Mr. Seftchick received his Masters of Business Administration from Temple University with a concentration in Healthcare Management, a Bachelor of Science degree from Drexel University in Health-Services Administration and an Associate of Science degree in Physical Therapy Assistance from The Pennsylvania State University
