Dr. Joshua Elder, SVP Digital and Virtual Health Practice Manager Medical Director, Highmark Health
Dr. Elder is an innovative executive and practicing emergency physician with experience creating and leading virtual health practices with integrated digital health solutions in community and academic hospitals, and within the Department of Defense. At Highmark Health, he is identifying ways to deploy technology to extend the reach, access, and effectiveness of clinical care delivery within the context of an integrated customer experience. This includes enabling the virtual delivery of more traditional services like office visits, using wearable devices to provide real-time biometric data to support the management of a patient’s care, and integrating artificial intelligence-powered analytics to provide actionable information in electronic health records. He also leads the development and implementation of a multi-specialty virtual practice and building a team of clinicians and non-clinicians delivering digital and virtual care across the organization. As a commissioned officer in the U. S. Army Reserve, he also serves as a Brigade Surgeon and leads a virtual organic provider program.
Laura Messineo, Vice President of Virtual Health, Highmark Health
Laura Messineo is a dynamic nursing leader in the healthcare industry. Her innovative nursing leadership skills enable her to successfully align corporate strategic goals to operationalize clinical and financial targets. With nearly two decades of experience within the virtual health industry, Laura has proven successes implementing virtual health solutions to drive clinical performance and financial metrics. Laura speaks nationally and is a member of the American Telemedicine Association (ATA) and HIMSS. In addition, Laura serves as a board member for Partnership for a Connected Illinois.
Dr. Anil Singh, Executive Medical Director of Clinical Solutions, Design and Implementation, Highmark Health
Dr. Singh is a graduate of Baylor University, where he received his BS in biology and his Master of Clinical Gerontology. He is also a graduate of the University of Texas Health Science Center where he received his Master of Public Health, Ross University, where he attended medical school, and Carnegie Mellon University, where he received a Master of Medical Management degree. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Aultman Hospital, where he served as chief medical resident. He joined Allegheny Health Network (AHN) in 2005 where he completed his fellowship in Pulmonary Medicine and then to UPMC where he completed his Critical Care medicine fellowship. He has served in a variety of roles, including the founder and Director of the Breathing Disorders Center, Program Director for the Pulmonary and Critical Care fellowship program, Division Chief of Pulmonary/Critical Care/Allergy/Sleep medicine and helped envision and implement a virtual tele-ICU program. He transitioned to Highmark Health, AHN’s parent company, in 2018.
