Harrisburg-based Powers & Associates is purchasing the former Mellon Bank building at the corner of Locust and Front streets in Steelton.
Powers will pay $65,000 to the Steelton Foundation for the 5,500-square-foot building, said Matt Tunnell, senior vice president at Powers. The developer intends to spend about $685,000 to renovate the 80-year-old brick building, Tunnell said. Powers hopes to close on the property before the end of this year and begin renovation shortly thereafter, Tunnell said.
Tunnell expects the project to wrap up in spring 2008. Powers will lease the building. Tunnell would not disclose the names of possible tenants.
