The proposed facility’s applicant, Hetal Patel, is seeking a special exception from the board that will allow for the development at 2010 Thistle Hill Road under the township’s commercial district bylaws.
As part of the process, Patel came before the township’s planning commission Tuesday night and presented a sketch plan for the project. No narcotics will be dispensed on site and inpatient care will be limited to a 10-day stay, Patel told the commission.
During her presentation, Patel described how she lost a brother to an opioid overdose one year ago and is emotionally invested in the project, said Ray A. Dietrich Jr., zoning officer for Jackson Township.
The commission recommended that the proposal proceed to the zoning board for a hearing at 7 p.m., Aug. 27, at the township office, 439 Roth’s Church Road. The hearing will serve as an opportunity for any property owner within 200 feet of the proposed development to voice any concerns, said Dietrich.
The board may impose conditions based on feedback received from the public, said Dietrich. The board will also consider how the facility would affect potential traffic volumes, buffers and screens to adequately protect neighboring properties.
