Deborah S. Bowman, CPA, SHRM-CP
COO and CFO
Brown Schultz Sheridan & Fritz
Bowman has served 12 years in her current position.
She leads with a strong focus on empowerment. “I get to know each of my team members personally, nurturing their development and empowering them to collaborate on decisions which affect them. By bringing department leaders on board who also lead through empowerment, I believe I have helped create a thriving team comprised of team members who feel fulfilled. I like to think my team members know I am a cheerleader for their success, and I deeply value their contributions to our success as a firm,” Bowman said.
She held positions in the public accounting, nonprofit and insurance sectors for 24 years before returning to BSSF as firm administrator in 2010. She was quickly promoted to COO, a position that did not exist prior to her promotion, for her accomplishments and impact on the firm. “Now, as a member of the leadership team, I supervise our internal administrative departments and spearhead many special projects, creating more efficient processes, implementing operational improvements and fostering team collaboration,” she said.
Bowman’s biggest passion is her family. She has a son and daughter-in-law who live in Annapolis, MD, as well as a son who lives in Pittsburgh, so it is most important to her to spend time and stay connected with them since there is distance between them. Apart from her my family, Bowman enjoys spending time with friends, working in her yard and garden, watching movies, traveling and sporting events–specifically Penn State football and Flyers hockey.
