Dauphin County-based bank eyes expansions

Citizens hopes expanding the location into a boutique-style banking branch will help build on that initial success.

Citizens, a subsidiary of Susquehanna Township-based Riverview Financial Corp. and division of Riverview Bank, filed for regulatory approval earlier this month to add services to its Somerset loan office, making it a limited-service branch.

The building, at 509 N. Center Ave., does not have the capacity for an ATM, night drop-off or drive-through, but the bank hopes it will be able to offer most other services by mid-February if it receives the OK from regulators, said Ginger Kunkel, Riverview’s director of retail banking.

The expansion is not the only growth Riverview expects in the coming year. It also plans to open a full-service branch in Berks County in mid-January.

“We’re continuing to expand our hometown-style of banking,” Kunkel said.

Riverview Bank and its operating divisions – Halifax, Marysville and Citizens Neighborhood banks – have 14 branches around Schuylkill, Berks, Dauphin, Perry, Northumberland and Somerset counties.

It acquired Palmyra-based financial advisory firm Your Vision Financial Services earlier this year.

The bank has about $547 million in assets.
