Presley Conway, a Cumberland Valley sixth grader, has reached the finals of a national competition sponsored by Sun-Maid, the raisins people, and now she’s appealing for your vote.
It’s important. The snacks of an entire middle school depend on the outcome.
Presley was one of more than 1,300 children who entered Sun-Maid’s Board of Imagination contest. The field has narrowed, and she’s now in the top 15.
One more round of voting could catapult her into the ranks of the top five vote getters, who will each win $5,000 for a college 529 savings plan. Not only that, her school, Mountain View Middle School will also win $5,000 and a year’s supply of Sun-Maid snacks.
Here’s where you go to vote. You need to do it by April 2.
Presley’s mom is Jill Conway, who works for Members 1st FCU. Central Penn Parent asked Presley, via her mom, to answer a short Q&A for us. Here are her answers:
How did you hear about the contest?
My mom saw a post for the contest on Facebook and signed me up in January. We completely forgot about it until they reached out to us while we were on vacation in Florida a few weeks ago.
How did you feel when you got the news that you were a finalist? I was shocked and excited! My family is really excited too. They keep texting me telling me they voted for me and that their friends have voted for me, too! There are a lot of really good contestants and I am happy to be chosen as one of them.
What are you most excited about if you win?
If I am selected, I am most excited for my school to win Sun-Maid snacks for a year. I think that would be pretty cool. I am also excited to be on the board for Sun-Maid and share my ideas with them. I love chocolate and mango so it would be neat if they used my idea to create a new snack.
Best reason we should vote for you?
You should vote for me because I am creative, I am not afraid to share my ideas with others, and I’m from Central PA. Also, it would be really cool for my school to win money and snacks for an entire year!
