Lititz Shopping District
Founded by German speaking Moravians in the 1750s and named for a castle in Bohemia, Lititz is known for Wilbur Buds chocolates, a unique shopping district and as a small town Lancaster County destination.
Lititz is famous for its tree lined streets and walkable small town America downtown feel.
The Julius Sturgis Pretzel Bakery, where patrons can “twist their own pretzel” is owned and operated by the descendents of Julius Sturgis. First opened in 1861 it has the distinction of being America’s first commercial pretzel bakery.
Generations later the Sturgis family continues to own and operate the bakery, using the same tried-and-true recipes and methods Julius Sturgis did.
Home to the largest limestone springs in Pennsylvania and known as a summer resort town, visitors during the 19th and early 20th centuries flocked to Lititz to “take the waters” for their curative and medicinal properties.
Lititz Second Fridays are held year-long, offering a chance for shops and customers to enjoy later hours. It’s an extended day for residents and visitors alike with street musicians, dancers, artists, and entertainers enlivening the streets, patios and shops.
