In the March 8 edition article about Lancaster Extrusion (“Rendering Around Red Tape,” page 1), there was a quote from me regarding how difficult it was for Mr. Lau to negotiate a lease with Burle Industries.
The statement may have been misunderstood by some readers to imply that somehow Burle Industries was difficult to deal with.
Not at all true. Just prior to that statement, your reporter and I had been discussing the challenges of negotiating a lease when the tenant is not fluent in the English language. Commercial leases are very complex legal documents and are hard enough for someone speaking English to understand.
The context of the quote referred entirely to the challenges of the language barrier, and not any difficulty with Burle.
As a matter of fact, Burle was very cooperative and helpful to Mr. Lau.
