A new shopping center is expected to open late this year in Lebanon County on the site of a popular bowling alley that is closing in May.
Brad Rohrbaugh, vice president of retail at Bennett Williams Commercial, said the 13,000-square-foot shopping center at 1451 Quentin Road in North Cornwall Township could open as early as November.
Bowling complex Cedar Lanes, which has been at the site since 1959, is closing in May. The bowling alley is waiting for final zoning approval to move to a new site at the Royal Oaks Golf Club.
A meeting of the North Cornwall Township Zoning Hearing Board is scheduled for March 9 to discuss the request to allow a bowling alley use at 3350 Oak St. in the township.
The new shopping center, a project of Apple Retail Properties of York, will feature a Chipotle restaurant, a Panera Bread outlet, an AT&T store and an Aspen Dental practice. That leaves open one site at the center, though Rohrbaugh said a national company is interested in it.
Rohrbaugh said all municipal approvals are in place for the shopping center.
