Central PA Gluten Free Expo headed to Camp Hill November 9

An estimated one percent of the U.S. population has celiac disease, along with an unknown number who deal with sensitivities to gluten or choose to eliminate gluten for other health reasons. On Saturday, November 9, gluten-free Pennsylvanians can gather at the Radisson Hotel Harrisburg in Camp Hill to celebrate all things gluten-free.
The 7th Annual Central PA Gluten Free Expo, taking place from 11 am. to 4 p.m. on November 9, will include over 50 local and national vendor booths, educational presentations and demonstrations, door prizes and gluten-free samples. Many Pennsylvania companies represented at the event have carved out a niche by producing products that are difficult to replicate or find in a gluten-free form, such as the funnel cakes produced by Archer’s Gluten Free Cafe of Troy or Altoona-based Bella Lucia’s gluten-free pizzelles. Expo exhibitors will be sampling, selling and discussing products and services at the event.
Keynote speaker Jules Shepard will present the session “Is That Really Gluten Free? Why Safe Gluten Free Food is Getting Harder to Find, and What You Can Do About It.” Shepard has been highly visible in the gluten-free community since 2007 with the publication of her first gluten-free cookbook. Since then she authored two more award-winning books and started gfJules.com to produce a line of gluten-free baking mixes and flour. There will also be a presentation by Dr. Emmanuelle Williams of the Penn State Hershey Celiac Clinic.
