Carlisle and Harrisburg are among eight cities and towns in Pennsylvania whose organizations are receiving grants from Pennsylvania American Water supporting the company’s Inclusion, Diversity and Equity efforts.
Community Cares in Carlisle received $4,000 to support its mission to empower individuals and families to remain or become housed.
Harrisburg’s Keystone Business Alliance was granted $3,000 to support programming to aid the success of small, diverse businesses.
Justin Ladner, president of Pennsylvania American Water, said in a statement that investing in organizations that promote inclusion, diversity and equity-related initiatives is a key component of the company’s community engagement strategy.
“Through these grants,” Ladner said, “Pennsylvania American Water shows its continued commitment to helping create inclusive and welcoming communities across the Commonwealth.”
The grants were announced in advance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day to celebrate the civil rights leader’s life and legacy. Grants ranging from $3,000-5,000 were awarded to eight organizations in Pennsylvania American Water’s service area. A total of $35,000 was awarded.
Organizations in Norristown, Phoenixville, Pittsburgh, Scranton, and Wilkes-Barre also received grants from Pennsylvania American Water, the largest investor-owned water utility in the state.
