CAREL Industries to expand Lancaster County plant

CAREL Industries broke ground this month on a project to increase its single U.S. plant from 35,000 square feet to 75,000 square feet. The company said in a press release that the additions to the plant’s production capacity will help avoid bottlenecks and improve logistics.

The Lancaster County plant is one of seven CAREL production facilities worldwide producing hardware and software to control air-conditioning and refrigeration systems. CAREL CEO Francesco Nalini said the addition in Lancaster is expected to be a significant accelerator of growth for the company.

“Implementation of our geographic footprint expansion project is a milestone in CAREL’s growth strategy, enabling us to improve our ability to compete globally,” he said in a statement, noting that last summer the company implemented the first programmable controller production line in its plant.

The Italian company has not announced how many employees it will hire in the process, but stated that it will have a need for new hires when the expansion is completed in May.
