Brian Jackson
Chair
McNees Wallace & Nurick
“The practice of law has many different aspects that aligned with what I thought would afford me professional fulfillment,” Jackson explained. “It is intellectually challenging, dynamic, allows for creativity and permits you to develop strong bonds with clients and colleagues.” All those things still remain true.
Though technology has changed the legal profession – the pace, the amount of information available, the ability to communicate – “what has not changed is how being part of a substantively strong and collaborative team allows you to take change head on,” he said. “That existed when I joined McNees in 1994 and still exists today.”
Norman White recruited Jackson to McNees in 1994 as an associate in the firm’s labor and employment practice group. Jackson was elected as chair of the firm in 2018 after serving as practice group leader and vice chair of the management committee.
He said that of all the lessons White taught him, “the most important was to be generous with your time and to provide meaningful opportunities for growth to those who follow you.”
