Early hour aside, Pastries with Parents was really fun. Side note: kudos to the organizers for providing ample amounts of coffee!  They knew we’d need it. 

What do grades convey to parents or guardians, and how can they respond? The answers may surprise you. 

Everyone tells you this, and they aren’t wrong, the holidays are magical with children.   Still, Christmas was a mess this year.  

Being healthy didn’t come easily to me. But I knew when I got pregnant, I had to get it together.  

All of a sudden my children have opinions and friends outside of the ones I have chosen. And plans. Kids make so many plans.

In a blink of an eye, our babies grow into toddlers, our toddlers turn into little people with minds of their own, and all too quickly those little people stand taller than you.  

As parents, we are advised to have open and honest conversations with our teenagers about a variety of topics, including sex.

I am writing this blog three days before Christmas, but you are likely reading it three days into the New Year.

I am not a financial advisor or a money guru. I am, however, a business owner with a stay-at-home partner, so we have to be fiscally responsible since we live on one income.  

Growing up, I was surrounded by a huge extended family of aunts, uncles, and way too many cousins to count.

Even those of us with large families can feel as though no one understands that sense of being alone, in spite of being surrounded by relatives.   

I wake up around 5 a.m. most mornings, whether it is a weekend or not, and in about two hours our oldest, Riley, will be up and roaming the house looking for me.  

Friends and family have forever been telling my wife and me that there’s never an ideal time to have a baby, but we always quietly disagreed. I now think they might be right.  

I think we all look at having gratitude as this magic bullet to dispelling the dark clouds, and we’re told to focus on the positive and that will make it all better.
