Blocked out: Lego KidsFest event in Harrisburg could be sold out by Thursday

//March 9, 2016

The April 8-10 event will likely be sold out of tickets by Thursday.

“If we have projected correctly, we will sell out the entire show sometime tomorrow,” said Tracey Weiss, public relations coordinator for BuzzEngine, the Connecticut-based company that produces the traveling Lego event. “That’s a record. We’re four weeks out.”

There are a limited number of tickets still available for the opening day.

In January, BuzzEngine reported that more than half of the 27,500 tickets had already been sold. Lego KidsFest is a national Lego Systems Inc. tour started in 2009. The tour makes about five to seven city stops each year.

“This one is lightning,” Weiss said of Harrisburg’s event in January, as ticket sales were running 40 percent ahead of the fastest-selling show in the company’s history.

A Lego tour event in Richmond, Va., sold out two weeks before its start, the previous record. Others have sold out the week of the event.

At the Farm Show, Lego will set up in the Weis Exposition Hall, which is 150,000 square feet. The event will feature millions of Lego bricks and dozens of hands-on, educational and building activities for all ages.

Five identical Lego sessions, each lasting four-and-a-half hours, will be held Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The event also will feature dozens of life-sized Lego models and displays, Lego building areas, the Big Brick pile, race ramps and more — all spanning more than 3 acres of floor space.
