Benedict H. Dubbs Jr., AIA, LEED AP
President
Murray Associates Architects
Dubbs joined the firm in 1984 and has been president since 2016. As president, he is responsible for the firm’s operation and its design projects. He is passionate about sustainable design by decreasing the built environment’s negative affect on the world and bringing new life to abandoned buildings. Dubbs’ designs have been nationally recognized and received multiple design awards, including Harrisburg’s own Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency (PHFA) office addition designed to LEED Platinum and Passive House standards.
This past year was difficult due to continued construction material supply-chain issues and the turbulent economy. Dubbs said there were times where the firm’s staff had to quickly re-design projects with new materials to keep the projects’ construction on schedule. Due to the turbulent economy, he focused on diversifying Murray’s commissions. He expanded business development efforts into additional private and public markets and revisited the firm’s overall proposal process.
