Dubbs is the president and the lead architectural design principal responsible for all architecture, programming, and interior design at Murray Associates. He works directly with the firm’s clients and also maintains the budget and schedule while providing oversight, coordination and peer quality control review of all documents.
He has 34 years design experience. He joined the firm in 1984, has been a principal since 2000 and has been president since 2016.
Dubbs is passionate about sustainable design, adaptive re-use, diminishing urban sprawl, and building a sense of community with all the firm’s projects.
Martin Murray, the former owner of the firm, was a mentor for Dubbs. “Martin taught me to always be respectful and responsive to our clients plus to utilize all our staff’s experience in a collaborative manner for the very best project outcomes,” Dubbs said.
His advice for young people entering his field today: “Travel as much as possible and learn to be a good listener. Most importantly, realize that architecture has an incredible opportunity to influence how society lives, learns, and plays.”
