Buckingham finds working with a high quality, committed team who are also good people rewarding. He also finds providing information that will help decision making by individuals, insurers, and purchasers as well as the legislature a rewarding part of the job.
“The most challenging and rewarding part of my career has been working with people. The people who undermine efforts or do not care about the organization(s) for which I have worked are the challenging ones. The people for whom I have been able to enhance their careers or lives and seen them succeed have been the most rewarding,” he said.
Buckingham said he’s had many mentors, but John Zemba was his most significant. He was a teacher and coach who told Buckingham he was going to be successful because of “my drive and commitment to doing things the right way”.
