Three students from the East Hempfield Township-based Pennsylvania School of Culinary Arts’ pastry arts program earned awards in a competition at Chocolatefest, a fundraiser for Keystone Human Services: Makayla Clendenen, Prettiest Cake, third place; Lydia Thompson, Most Original, third place; and Gui Zhang, Most Original, second place, and Best of Theme, third place.
Susquehanna Township-based Widener Commonwealth Law School Black Law Student Association gave Rachel Hadrick its 2018 Professor Starla J. Williams Service Award for promoting diversity in the legal community. Hadrick is an attorney with McNees Wallace & Nurick LLC.
Harrisburg-based Pennsylvania Bar Association gave 23 County Bar Recognition Awards at its recent conference of county bar leaders for projects that improve the legal profession, justice system and community. Midstate associations were honored for these programs: Cumberland County Bar Association, the 14th Amendment: Transforming American Democracy and 2017 Adopt-A-Family; Dauphin County Bar Association, Pro Bono Driver’s License Restoration Intake Clinic; Lebanon County Bar Association, Toys for Tots and Wills for Heroes; York County Bar Association, Impact Grants, Legal Aid and Scholarships 2017, Expungement Clinics 2017 and Wills for Heroes 2017.
Connecticut-based Multichannel Merchant Magazine named The Jay Group of West Hempfield Township a top Third Party Logistics Provider for 2018.
Texas-based National Ornamental & Miscellaneous Metals Association gave Hess Ornamental Iron Inc. of Red Lion a 2018 Bronze Ernest Weimann Top Job Award in the Interior Railings – Ferrous, Non-Forged category for interior railing work at The Rare Steakhouse, a newly-opened restaurant in Washington, D.C.
Northumberland County-based Pennsylvania Auctioneers Association recently presented awards: Kenneth Hansell Jr. of Lititz was inducted into the PAA Hall of Fame for excellence in the auction industry; and Chase Noll of Kirkwood was named Runner-up and Rookie at the 39th PA Auctioneer Competition.
Springettsbury Township-based Commuter Services of Pennsylvania named seven regional employers Best Workplaces for Commuters for 2018: Always Bagels, Lebanon County; Comcast Cable, York County; County of Lancaster, Lancaster County; Eurofins Lancaster Laboratories, Lancaster County; Fresh Express, Dauphin County; Hollander Sleep Products LLC, Schuylkill County; and Ingram Micro, Dauphin County.
