Lancaster-based Armstrong World Industries Inc. will lay off more than 100 workers at a wood flooring plant in West Virginia, spokeswoman Jennifer Johnson confirmed this morning.
Armstrong told 116 workers at the plant south of Beverly, W.Va., on Wednesday they would be laid off as of Nov. 11.
“This continues to be a very challenging economy, and we regret the impact this has on the employees who are being laid off,” Johnson said. They will be put on a list for potential recall, she said.
A global manufacturer of ceiling, flooring and other construction materials, Armstrong on Monday reported third-quarter earnings of $52.5 million, or 89 cents per share. Its shares trade on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol AWI.
