Armstrong to invest $25M in Lancaster plant

//October 31, 2008

Armstrong World Industries Inc. this afternoon announced
plans to make its Lancaster
plant capable of producing fiberglass-backed, sheet-vinyl flooring products.

The $25 million investment is the Lancaster County
ceiling and floor producer’s largest investment in sheet-vinyl manufacturing in
more than 10 years. The company has seen double-digit growth of
fiberglass-backed, sheet-vinyl floors in North America
over the past several years to the point that it justifies the investment,
according to a company statement.

The upgrade is already taking place, and the plant should
begin making the product in early 2010, said Jennifer Johnson, an Armstrong
spokeswoman. The facility currently produces felt-backed, sheet-vinyl flooring
products. Both products are for the residential market.

Armstrong trades shares on the New York Stock Exchange under
the ticker symbol AWI.
