Apple Retail Properties breaks ground on retail center in Virginia

//April 9, 2018

The new project, dubbed The Shops at Lake Wright, is near the Norfolk Premium Outlets in Norfolk, Va. The eight-acre site, just off Interstate 64, will feature two 11,000-square-foot buildings with parcels available for future expansion.

A Chick-fil-A will open at the front of the site. Other tenants have not yet been announced.

Virginia-based Hourigan Construction is overseeing the construction with site work beginning in mid-April. Building construction is set to begin this summer and tenants are expected to move in toward the end of the year.

Apple Retail officials declined comment on construction costs for the new retail center, which is being designed by York-based Mula Design. The civil engineer is Virginia-based Timmons Group.

Apple Retail, which owns several retail sites in Cumberland, Dauphin and York counties, has four properties in Virginia.

The company also is expanding its holdings into other states. It currently has a project under construction in Charlotte, N.C., and officials are actively seeking other opportunities in the Southeast.
