A New Jersey-based development group is spending more than
$10 million to revitalize the former Freshwater apartments complex that starts
in the 2600 block of Green Street in Harrisburg.

The GLC Group has started work on the 18-building, 216-unit
complex renamed Riverfront
Park at 2600 Green Street. The
complex has been mostly vacant for the past few years as the former owners
claimed bankruptcy, according to GLC. Most of the units had been closed and
considered unfit for living, with only two tenants remaining as of late last
year, according to the developer.

New amenities will include an onsite 24-hour superintendent,
laundry rooms, a business center, fitness center and picnic areas. Rent will range
from $650 per month for a one-bedroom apartment, to $750 per month for a two-bedroom
apartment.

The group bought the complex during a bankruptcy auction
held late last year. The company owns other residential complexes throughout Harrisburg, including Magnolia
Gardens on Hale Street and the Bellevue Towers
in the 2400 block of Market Street.

The group has investments in more than 30 properties valued
at a total of more than $100 million along the East Coast, according to the
company.

GLC is holding open houses from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. each Sunday
at the complex. For more information, call 230-9600.
