Anne Bahn
President & CEO
Byrnes Health Education
Bahn joined Byrnes Health Education in January 2007 as the organization’s first fulltime director of development. She has served as president and CEO since August 2011.
Bahn said it is energizing to work with great teams of staff, board and committee members, clients and donors, to overcome obstacles to delivering on Byrnes Health Education’s mission.
“I am inspired when our health educators share special moments of connecting with students. I am inspired by my family who encourage me in my work every single day,” she said.
She said not too long ago, health education was focused on nutrition and fitness, anatomy and general health topics. According to Bahn, societal changes, community health assessments and epidemics have expanded the need for health education to include mental health, substance abuse prevention, digital citizenship, hygiene and human development.
Delivery platforms have expanded to include digital delivery and live webcasting which allows more opportunity to educate and inspire people of all ages to make healthy choices.
Bahn said she has been blessed with many mentors.
“Students continue to remind me of the sense of wonder. Board Chairs have taught me to consider the grey, to think beyond the black and white. Our Byrnes Health Education team reminds me of the danger of standing still. Together we strategize outside the box and remain passionate about our health education mission,” Bahn said.
