The AMA’s “Accelerating Change in Medical Education” initiative gave $11 million to 11 schools for five years to fund educational innovation for physicians.
Penn State College of Medicine will collaborate with Penn State Hershey Health System to design medical education with the needs of the health system, guided by basic science, clinical and health care delivery faculties, according to the AMA. The program will prepare students to work in all aspects of the health system, including hospital, home, skilled nursing, and community and social agencies.
Penn State Hershey Health System is the umbrella organization that manages the Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center’s relationship with other health care providers around the state. The Derry Township medical center also is a teaching hospital for the Penn State College of Medicine.
