Jones has been serving Union Community Care and its communities for three years.

She said it’s rewarding to do the work that has a direct impact on people’s lives.

“At Union Community Care last year we saw more than 34,000 patients. That’s 34,000 friends, family members, neighbors who entrust us to walk with them on their health journey, and we have the opportunity to have a positive impact on each and every one of them,” Jones said.

The idea of fairness inspires her, and she firmly believes that health care should not be a luxury. If you get sick it should not impact your ability to pay for necessities like rent or groceries. At Union Community Care the idea of fairness is deeply entrenched in what we do, and who we are. Our purpose   is to spark equity through patient-led health care that welcomes and strengthens our communities by integrating body, mind, and heart.

Community health is a segment of the health care industry, and Jones said it has changed drastically through the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Gaps that already existed for some communities to access resources to manage their health became canyons. This was particularly evident in the availability of mental health resources. At Union Community Care we’re working hard to break down barriers to make care accessible and affordable,” she said.

Jones finds empowering leaders of the future to take on new responsibilities rewarding. She said it’s deeply satisfying knowing that she can help support their professional and personal growth.

Her parents are the two people who she considers her most significant mentors. “My parents owned a small family business and they worked from sunup to sundown to make that business a success. Through my parents, I learned the values of teamwork and hard work. I feel so fortunate to have two people so close to me teach me these important values,” Jones said.
