The entrance fee at two Lancaster County museums will climb Jan. 1 by $1.

The entrance fee at two Lancaster County museums will climb Jan. 1 by $1.

The increase will take place at the Landis Valley Museum in Manheim Township and the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania in Strasburg Township. The additional revenue from admission will support the historic-preservation fund of the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission. The fund helps pay for programs at the 25 museums and historic sites in the state.

This is the first fee increase for these two museums since 2002, according to the commission. Site improvements, along with an increase in the cost to operate each museum, have made it necessary to boost the admission price, according to the commission.
